It requires practice and dedication in order to create excellent clues. A successful treasure hunt is tough enough to cause you to think and make you struggle but not be too challenging and making the treasure hunters to fight for too long and eventually give up. Remember that a treasure hunt is focused on the search. Sure, the prize is beautiful but the treasure hunts that people like the most are due to the hunt. Consider all the movies about treasure hunting. If they went right to where the treasure is,, would it have been more fun. Not at all. If you’re planning to offer an individual a prize, simply present them with the award. If you’re planning to make an adventure, be focused on the hunt and do not think with the prizes.
Now that we’ve talked about the importance of making sure you provide fun, interesting clues, let’s offer some suggestions for how to write clues. Like we said be aware of the level of difficulty in the puzzle. If they are too easy, the hunt will not be enjoyable But if it’s too difficult, the hunt won’t be enjoyable also. Sometimes, it is easy to create clues that aren’t difficult. The clues that are evident to you because you are aware of the location of your next hint or the location of the treasure, is not always clear to treasure seekers. It can often make sense when you explain the situation, however they could be looking at the clue from a completely different direction.
If you want to rhyme, or not rhyme, that’s the issue. There is no need to rhyme your clues however I have noticed that people love ones that rhyme. They appear like they’re “movie like” and just adds a fun element for the puzzles.
Make sure that certain words are capitalized. must focus on or words that have double meanings that can help find the answer. The most successful clues are typically very complex, but not necessarily difficult to solve but they can be complex in words and the way each word can help the treasure hunter in solving the puzzle.
Another method I employ for writing down clues to try to make them Internet accessible. I learned this while the show National Treasure. I always thought it was amusing that, even though Ian only had a small portion of the clue it was possible to type some key words into an internet search, for the clue and it would pop up. Many times, I try to make a challenging clue search engine friendly, which means you type the right word into Google and the answer might appear.
